Furry AI Prompt Glossary: 50 Terms That Change Your Renders

Half of bad furry AI renders die from vocabulary, not from the model. Diffusion engines respond to specific trigger words, and the fandom has its own vocabulary layered on top: species tags, anatomy terms, style names, booru shorthand. This glossary collects the 50 terms we actually use in prompts, grouped by what they control, with a note on where each one works best.

Species and Body Terms

• anthro: the master switch. Signals a bipedal animal character with human proportions. The single most load-bearing word in furry prompting.
• feral: animal-bodied. Most adult platforms block explicit feral content outright, and we do not test it.

• digitigrade: legs that bend like a canine’s, walking on toes. Reads as more anthro; plantigrade reads as more human.
• muzzle: ask for it explicitly or most general models give you a human face with ears.
• sergal, protogen, avali: closed species and fandom originals. Only booru-trained models like Pony know them; see our protogen guide.
• scalie: reptile-family anthro: dragons, kobolds, sharks. Different texture words apply: scales, plates, smooth hide.
• taur: centaur-style body plan. High failure rate everywhere; batch heavily.

Fur, Markings and Texture

• detailed fur: the safest universal quality tag for coats.
• fur pattern terms: countershading, chest tuft, cream underbelly, tail tip, socks, mask. Specific beats generic: “white chest tuft, black socks” outperforms “nice markings” every time.
• sheen and material: glossy scales, matte fur, iridescent feathers. One material word per surface.

Anatomy and NSFW Control

• explicit / nsfw: the gate words. On uncensored platforms they switch the model into adult mode; on filtered ones they trigger refusals.
• presenting: booru-derived pose tag understood by Pony-family models.
• anatomically correct: pushes species-accurate detail on booru-trained models. Know your platform’s rules before using it.

Style and Render Terms

• furry art style: nudges general models toward fandom aesthetics when no furry mode exists.

• digital painting / cel shading / realistic: pick one render style per prompt. Two style words fight each other.
• rim light, golden hour, bedroom lighting: one lighting cue transforms flat renders. Rotate these before touching anything else.

Platform and Workflow Terms

• seed: the random number behind a render. Reuse it to keep composition stable while editing words; the backbone of consistent characters.

How many terms should one prompt use?

Somewhere between 10 and 20 total words across all layers. Past that, terms start fighting each other and the model ignores the tail of the prompt.
